Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
D'Addario XL Electric Guitar strings are world-renowned as "The Player's Choice" amongst guitar players of all genres and styles. XL strings are wound with nickelplated steel and are known for their distinctive bright tone and excellent intonation. D'addario pays more to have their ball ends precision turned from solid brass stock. The edges have radii that prevent the ball end from cutting into wooden bridges or guitar tops. Each string is twisted to perfection right down to the three neatly wrapped "lock twists." And those lock twists help keep their plain steel strings from unraveling or breaking prematurely. Each and every spool of precision drawn high carbon steel wire D'addario uses goes through three quality control tests before it becomes a set of D'addario strings. Pioneering innovative string design has been a D'Addario family tradition for nine generations. Most guitar players don't realize that the inner core wire in ALL D'Addario steel strings is made from carefully drawn, hexagonally shaped, high carbon steel wire. The six "edges" of the core wire bite into the softer wrap wire, securing it all along its length. Environmental Package.   Gauges: .0105; .0135; .018; .028; .038; .048

5 out of 5 stars get the right strings for your guitar   December 7, 2009

I changed my Ovation guitar's strings two weeks ago and used Elixir polyweb light acoustic guitar strings. I just installed strings that were too large for my guitar and the guitar was hard to play. So I installed these EXL light electric guitar strings. The result was a guitar whose strings sat very close to the frets and strings that were much much easier to play because the string tension was only 16 psi where the Elixir strings were 26 psi; both strings tuned to the standard E. I am sure had I used an equivalent Elixir string, the results would have been the same. This was an ID 10 T error and no fault of the guitar strings. As these EXL110 strings are much cheaper than the Elixir strings and to me sound just as good, I recommend you try these strings. Your finger tips will thank you.

I had been playing guitar for over 25 years, and for the money, you can't get crisper sounding string.
